Production Preparation Process
A disciplined method for designing a lean production process for a new product or for fundamentally redesigning the production process for an existing product when the design or customer demand change substantially.
A cross-functional 3P team examines the total production process, developing a number of alternatives for each process step and evaluating these against lean criteria. Using simple materials, the team then mocks up the process to test assumptions before equipment is ordered or installed in the final configuration.
