Bruce, thanks for your comments. I’m glad you enjoyed the post. I like your addition that patience and persistence are key ingredients. Lean doesn’t happen overnight and is certainly not just some “cost reduction thing.” You have to constantly drive for the “sell one make one” ideal and get both your suppliers and customers linked into the value adding chain.

In other words the long term focus must be not just on becoming Lean yourself, but on facilitating a Lean Value Stream that encompasses the producing and procuring the most basic of raw materials all the way up to and including the delivery of a quality product Just in Time every time at a reasonable cost to the customer. Patience and persistence are key ingredients!
